Phillies Vs. Rockies: Jhoulys Chacin Makes Start As Anchor Of Colorado's Rotation

The Colorado Rockies return to Coors Field after their weekend series with the San Diego Padres and the trade of Ubaldo Jimenez. With the MLB Trade Deadline come and gone, the Rockies begin August looking to just gain some semblance of a team that could win.

The Phillies put Cole Hamels (12-6, 2.61 ERA) on the mound. Hamels is coming off a 2-1 loss to the Giants, but he struck out six in 7-2/3 innings. In his May start in Philadelphia against the Rockies, Hamels pitched a solid eight innings of one-run ball and picked up eight strikeouts. This will e just Hamels' second career start in Coors Field. He was lit up for seven runs in 3-2/3 innings in a 2009 start.

Jhoulys Chacin (8-8, 3.50 ERA) will face a Phillies team that swept the Pirates in a three-game series over the weekend. Chacin dominated the Phillies in May while at Citizens Bank Park. He held the Phillies to one run over seven innings while striking out nine batters. Chacin picked up the win in that game, but on Monday night he will look for his first victory since the middle of June. In his last start, he allowed three runs, but just one was earned as a result of a Ty Wigginton error in left field.

The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. MT.
