The 2011 U.S. Women's Open is underway at the beautiful Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and the course is playing very tough as most expected. As of 1:30 this afternoon, only five players are under par, with Cristie Kerr and Amy Anderson leading the way at 2-under par. On a day with forecasted showers, the women have been greeted with sunny skies and a nice breeze but it hasn't seemed to make the links any easier.
In what can only been seen as another disappointment (in a long line of them), Michelle Wie has shot a 7-over thru 17 holes. Defending champion Paula Creamer and favorite Yani Tseng both teed off at 1:36 but no scores have been recorded yet. Stay tuned for updates throughout the day.
