The Colorado Rockies enter this home series with the Los Angeles Dodgers having won a 5-3 contest against the Padres on Wednesday night. The Rockies will look once again to attempt back-to-back wins, which they have not done since May 16-17 when they defeated the San Francisco Giants in a mini two-game sweep.
Clayton Kershaw is making his second start of the season against the Rockies, the first coming on April 5 in Coots Field. He gave up three runs in six innings, but that was just enough for the Rockies to win, 3-0, that day. Chris Iannetta and Troy Tulowitzki each hit a home run off of him. His last two starts have been on opposite sides of the spectrum. On May 29, Kershaw threw a two-hit complete game shutout in an 8-0 victory over the Florida Marlins. He struck out 10 on his way to his sixth win. On June 4, he did give up six runs in 6.2 innings and struck out nine, but he wound up with a no-decision in the Dodgers' eventual 11-8 victory.
Juan Nicasio makes his third start.
