2011 NCAA Baseball Regional Scores: TCU Bounced From Tournament After Loss To Oral Roberts

One year after making it to the semifinals of the College World Series, the TCU Horned Frogs exited the tournament in 2011 during the regionals round. They picked up their second loss in the double-elimination round when Oral Roberts bounced them, 8-4, on Sunday afternoon.

The day did not start well for TCU as starter Kyle Winkler left in the first inning of the game. After recording two outs and walking a batter on 12 pitches, Winkler left the mound holding his elbow. The Horned Frogs brought the game to 4-3 after the top of the sixth inning, but it quickly slipped in the bottom of the sixth inning. Chris Elder came to the plate with the bases loaded, and Teddy Nowell took the mound for Trent Appleby. Elder went and hit a grand slam. Jantzen Witte added an RBI double in the top of the ninth for TCU, but far from enough to do anything.

Hosting the Fort Worth regional, No. 1 TCU defeated No. 4 Oral Roberts, 10-2, on Friday and advanced to the winners' bracket in the regional, but lost to the No. 3 Dallas Baptist Patriots on Saturday, 3-2. Dallas Baptist and Oral Roberts play Sunday night at 6 p.m. MT. A win for Dallas Baptist sends them to the Super Regionals, but an Oral Roberts victory makes way for a seventh and final game on Monday night.
