2011 College World Series Continues With Cal Vs. Virginia In Elimination Game

Will the No. 1 seed Virginia Cavaliers see an end come to their season on Thursday afternoon, or will they eliminate the Cal Bears from the 2011 College World Series? The Cal Bears are the feel-good story of this year's CWS, as the sports was set to be dropped after this season before alumni raised enough money to keep the program going.

Virginia won their first fame of the CWS against Cal, 4-1, but then lost to South Carolina, 7-1, the other night. Danny Hultzen was solid in that first game, keeping the Bears off the board for 6.1 innings and striking out six. He will pitch on Friday should Tyler Wilson hold the ground when he starts on Thursday night. He allowed Cal's lone run in 2.1 innings.

The Bears will start Dixon Anderson who holds a 3.90 ERA in 13 starts this season. He's allowed 66 hits in 67 innings and has struck out just 47.

Here are the results and the remaining schedule for Bracket 2:

Game 3: Virginia def. California, 4-1
Game 4: South Carolina def. Texas A&M, 5-4
