2011 College World Series Results: Cal Eliminates Texas A&M; Ross Stripling Free To Sign With Rockies

The Texas A&M Aggies joined the Texas Longhorns on the sidelines for the remainder of the 2011 College World Series. The Cal Golden Bears, who were on the way to their final season before alumni raised enough money to keep the program going, defeated the Aggies, 7-3, on Tuesday afternoon.

Cal scored in three straight innings to secure the victory. After Adam Smith put A&M up, 1-0, in the bottom of the fourth, the Bears struck back for three in the fifth. An error to start the game allowed three unearned runs to score later on a two-run single and a sacrifice fly. A double and two singles in the next inning put three more on the board.

Texas A&M added two more, but Cal added another run to keep things out of reach. Cal's Kyle Porter and Matt Flemer struck out nine, while all the runs were charged to the former. The Aggies' Michael Wacha struggled by allowing all seven runs (four earned) in 6.2 innings.
