Woody Paige Fears American Exceptionalism Is At An End ... In Sports

Woody Paige is always known to make stupid arguments for stupid topics. Here's another one from Monday's episode of Around the Horn:

What? The U.S. is no longer No. 1? Let Woody Paige list the reasons: Dirk Nowitzki, a German, won the Finals MVP; Rory McIlroy, from Northern Ireland, took home the U.S. Open championship; we Americans don't win the British Open (ignore nine different (11 total) American winners of that tourney since 1995). And then to make it serious he goes on to mention that we aren't No. 1 in either math or science or even literature. Nope, we're just No. 1 in believing that we are at the top of everything in the world.

Maybe Woody Paige can put the U.S. at No. 1 in rants about how we aren't No. 1 any longer. Because we all love to hear arguments from sports writers about the decline of American exceptionalism.
