College World Series 2011 Score Update: Preston Tucker's Home Run Gives Florida Gators Lead

The Florida Gators currently lead the Vanderbilt Commodores, 3-1, in Bracket 1 of the 2011 College World Series. Florida 1B/OF and Colorado Rockies' 16th round draft pick Preston Tucker hit a three-run home run in the top of the fourth innng. Shortstop Nolan Fontana worked a walk and moved to third when Mike Zunino singled and advanced to second on a throwing error. Tucker then unleashed a shot over the right field wall, giving him 15 homers and 72 RBI on the season

Florida freshman Karsten Whitson started the game but left in the fifth inning after he allowed an RBI single to Anthony Gomez. Whitson allowed that one run on four hits and a walk. He struck out five. Steven Rodriguez struck out Aaron Westlake to end the inning. Vanderbilt's Grayson Garvin allowed the homer, but has also struck out seven so far.
