Last time we checked in with CU Lady Buffs forward Brittany Spears, she was the seventh selection in the second round of the 2011 WNBA Draft, 19th pick overall, by the Phoenix Mercury. Well, the WNBA season is just a few days away and Spears won't be a member of the Mercury and play with Diana Taurasi. She was cut as part of the mandatory roster trimming on Tuesday.

Spears appeared in both preseason games. The first was against a Japanese team. She played 19 minutes, scored nine points on 3-of-6 shooting, pulled down three boards and stole the ball three times. But on May 28, she barely saw the court against the Los Angeles Sparks. She picked up six minutes and scored two points on 1-of-3 shooting. She grabbed a rebound on both sides of the glass and swiped the ball again.

Be on the lookout to see if she winds up playing elsewhere this season.
