College World Series 2011 Schedule, Day 2: Ross Stripling, Texas A&M Face Defending Champion South Carolina

Day 2 of the 2011 College World Series starts its schedule with Bracket 2 games. In the first game, Danny Hultzen, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 MLB Draft, leads the Virginia Cavaliers against the Cal Golden Bears, a team that had been cut by the university's athletic department but was saved during the 2011 season due to donations and fundraising.

Game 2 is far more interesting from a Colorado Rockies perspective and possibly a tournament perspective. This contest pits the 2010 College World Series winners, the South Carolina Gamecocks, against the Texas A&M Aggies. The Rockies' ninth round selection, Ross Stripling, will start on the mound for the Aggies. He holds a 2.29 ERA and has 117 strikeouts on the season. He will need to keep 1B Christian Walker and 2B Scott Wingo quiet in the batter's box. South Carolina OF Jackie Bradley Jr, a supplemental first round pick by the Red Sox, suffered a wrist injury earlier in the season, but is expected back for the biggest stage in college baseball.
