2011 NCAA Golf Championships Leaderboard: Colorado State Near The Bottom

The 2011 NCAA Golf Championships are underway and the Colorado St. Rams were one of the surprise teams to make the field this year. It is only their second appearance in the national finals. The Rams entered the tournament unranked, but did receive one vote in the latest poll.

The event is taking place at Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Okla. from May 31 to June 5. After the first three days (54 holes), the top eight teams advance to match play to determine the championship until just two teams play on June 5.

The Rams have yet to start their second round, but after the first day of competition the team shot 19-over and currently sits tied for 24th (as of this posting) with No. 8 5 Florida and No. 10 LSU on the leaderboard. No. 4 Georgia Tech currently is atop the board with No. 2 UCLA at 4-under. They are the only teams under par right now, while Alabama is third at even par.

Individually for the Rams, Kory Harrell leads his team at 1-over, while Ryan Peterson Zahkai Brown and Kirby Pettitt range from 5- to 7-over. Mike Sorenson shot an 82 for a 10-over score.
