The bracket for the 2011 NCAA Division I Lacrosse Championship was announced yesterday with the home town Denver Pioneers earning a somewhat surprising sixth overall seed and the first round home game that comes with it. The Pioneers will take on the eleventh ranked (according to the coaches poll) Villanova Wildcats on Saturday in a game that will be televised nationally on ESPNU.

The Syracuse Orange received the No. 1 overall seed as expected. The other seven seeded teams in the 16 team tournament are Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, Duke, Denver, Virginia, and North Carolina. The first round will take place at the seeded teams' home stadiums this Saturday and Sunday. The quarterfinals will take place in Hempstead, NY, and Foxborough, MA, the following weekend and the final four and championship is being held in Baltimore, MD on May 28 and 30.
