Rockies Vs. Giants: Can Ubaldo Jimenez Find Himself Against San Francisco?

The Colorado Rockies head to San Francisco to close out their six-game road trip, and they'll look for better things than they experienced in Arizona. Thursday night's loss was a tough one to take. Entering the bottom of the ninth, Huston Street had a two-run lead to work with and then gave up two solo home runs to send the game to extra innings. Then in the bottom of the 11th, Chris Young hammered a ball to center field for a double. He then scored on bloop single to right field that Seth Smith could not get to in time.

But let's not forget that the Rockies could have had a much larger lead had they figured out how to hit with runners in scoring position, going just 1-for-12 in the game.

Friday's game features a top-grade pitching matchup with Ubaldo Jimenez facing Matt Cain. Jimenez has yet to find himself this season, something being said after each start he concludes. In his May 1 start against the Pirates, Jimenez allowed four runs in the second inning on a single followed by a triple and then a double. By the end of four innings, he had already used 88 pitches and was lifted for Esmil Rogers at the start of the fifth inning.

Matt Cain, meanwhile, is a loser in two of his last three games, but still going strong with a 3.28 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 35.2 innings. Cain has a 3.22 ERA in 23 career starts against the Rockies.
