2011 NCAA Lacrosse Tournament: Denver Pioneers Highlight Sunday's Slate Of Games

Four teams booked trips to the second round of the 2011 NCAA Lacrosse Tournament. If the Denver Pioneers advance to the second round, they will face No. 3 Johns Hopkins on Saturday, May 21 at James Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, NY. Hopkins defeated Hofstra, 12-5, on Saturday afternoon. After being tied at four at halftime, Hopkins pulled away with an 8-1 advantage in the second half.

No. 2 Cornell def. Hartford, 12-5
No. 3 Johns Hopkins def. Hofstra, 12-5
No. 4 Notre Dame def. Penn, 13-6
No. 5 Duke def. Delaware, 15-14

Will Denver and the other seeded teams advance? There are some good games on the schedule:

No. 1 Syracuse vs. Siena, 5:30 p.m. MT, ESPNU
No. 6 Denver vs. Villanova, 3:15 p.m. MT, ESPNU
No. 7 Virginia vs. Bucknell, 1 p.m. MT, ESPNU
No. 8 North Carolina vs. Maryland, 11 a.m. MT, ESPN/ESPN3.com

Based on College Crosse's Fun Factor, Syracuse-Siena, Virginia-Bucknell and Denver-Villanova are three of the top four games to watch in the opening round.

The quarterfinals take place May 21-22. The only matchup settled right now is No. 4 Notre Dame vs. No. 5 Duke on Sunday, May 22.
