In the latest NCAA Basketball Rankings, the AP poll still has the Ohio St. Buckeyes and the Kansas Jayhawks as the top two teams in the nation, but last week's No. 3 BYU Cougars dropped down to No. 8 following their 1-1 record that included a loss to New Mexico last Wednesday. They also lost Brandon Davies due to a violation of the school's honor code.
The Pittsburgh Panthers moved up one spot to No. 3 while the Notre Dame Fighting Irish jumped four spots to No. 4. Duke, who lost over the weekend, finished in fifth place. The North Carolina Tar Heels, whom Duke lost to, jumped seven spots from No. 13 to No. 6. The San Diego St. Aztecs, BYU, Purdue and Texas round out the top 10. Both Purdue and Texas each dropped games over the last week.
Four teams entered the back end of the Top 25 this week: No. 19 Kansas State (win over Texas), No. 20 West Virginia (wins over Connecticut and Louisville), No. 24 Temple and No. 25 Cincinnati (win over Georgetown)
