2011 Mountain West Tournament: BYU Claims One Seed

The Mountain West Conference tournament begins play at the Thomas and Mack Center at the home of the UNLV Rebels on Wednesday, March 10. All games will be in high-definition which is a big deal since during the regular season games that were broadcast on The Mtn. were only broadcast in standard definition. The opening round game has the Wyoming Cowboys taking on the TCU Horned Frogs with a 3 p.m. tip. The winner then earns the right to take on top seed BYU Cougars who bounced back after their loss to the New Mexico Lobos and routed Wyoming today to clinch the top seed.

The Mountain West is looking good to get three teams in the NCAA tournament and a fourth could make the cut from either Colorado State or New Mexico. The winner of that game has a shot because they would take on a potentially vulnerable BYU team. Plus, do not forget that New Mexico swept BYU this season, so that is a game to watch out for if the Mountain West is to get four teams in the tournament.

Here is the tournament schedule (all times are mountain):
