CollegeInsider.com Tournament Bracket: Air Force Hosts North Dakota In Opening Round

Even lower on the postseason tournament rankings, the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament is already under way with a Tuesday game already in the books. Buffalo defeated Quinnipiac, 75-68. The Opening Round continues with seven games on Tuesday and four more on Wednesday.

The Air Force Falcons host North Dakota on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. MT in an Opening Round game.

This tournament has a different setup that most. It starts with a field of 24 teams, of which 12 advance. However, four of those teams receive byes in the second round and going automatically to the quarterfinals. According to the above link, RPI, strength of schedule, conference ranking and geographic location are used to determine the four teams that advance to the quarterfinals.

This tournament is two years old. Old Dominion won the inaugural tournament in 2009, while Missouri State captured the title last year. The Northern Colorado Bears, who will play the San Diego St. Aztecs in the second round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament, participated in the tournament last year. They defeated Portland in the first round, but lost to Pacific in the quarterfinals. Pacific was the runner-up last year.
