Denver entered its Wednesday night game with Iona as a 25-point favorite in Vegas, but a Randy Dezouvre 18-foot jumper with 1.6 seconds remaining in overtime gave the Gaels an 80-78 road win.
The AP has more details:
Chris Udofia tied it at 78 with 18.8 seconds left in the extra period, making a pair of free throws. But Iona hurried the ball down the court. Scott Machado drove the lane and kicked the ball back out to Dezouvre near the top of the key, where he swished the winning shot.
Denver, who led by 11 at halftime, had four starters finish in double-figures. Guard Brett Olsen led the way for the Pioneers with 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Udofia went 6-for-11 from the field to finish with 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Chase Hallam (11 points) and Brian Stafford (10 points and five assists ) helped pace the Pioneers' offense in the win.
