Avalanche Vs. Canucks Score Update: Vancouver Leads 1-0 After First Period

It wasn't a great first period for the Colorado Avalanche, who let the Vancouver Canucks go on power play for a significant portion of the period and then gave up a goal to them when both teams were at full strength. Vancouver leads 1-0 after the first period as they try to win for the seventh time in eight games.

Left wing Daniel Sedin scored the goal for Vancouver, his tenth of the season, just over three minutes into the game. The Avalanche let the Canucks go on power play when Kevin Porter committed two penalties, game misconduct and major for kneeing, on one play to earn 15 minutes in the penalty box. Vancouver wasn't able to take advantage of that in the first period, but they continue to lead and have the home crowd behind them.

Colorado has won three consecutive games, but that's following a pretty bad rough before. Preceding the win streak, the Avalanche lost 12 of 16 games.
