Famous Idaho Potato Bowl 2011, Ohio Vs. Utah State: Aggies, Bobcats To Clash On Blue Field

The 2011 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl features the Ohio Bobcats against the Utah State Aggies. This is one of the first bowl games of the season.

The Ohio Bobcats and the Utah State Aggies will face off in the 2011 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, the first year this bowl game is going by that name. Played on the blue field of the Boise St. Broncos, this bowl game had been previously known in some form as the Humanitarian Bowl. However, it appears that some people got the right idea and realized it wasn't very humanitarian to have teams play on an all-blue playing surface.

The Bobcats went 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the MAC, including a 23-20 loss to the Northern Illinois Huskies in the MAC Championship Game. The Bobcats held a 20-0 lead at halftime only to go scoreless in the second half. The Bobcats have a strong offense (No. 39 in passing, No. 24 in rushing and 31 points per game) while the defense allows just 22 points per game.

The Aggies recovered from a 2-5 start to go 5-0 over November and December. However, the Aggies played really close in many of those losses. They took the Auburn Tigers to the edge in the season opener, lost to the Colorado St. Rams in overtime and lost by a field goal to the BYU Cougars.

Game date, time: 3:30 pm MT, Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011

Location: Bronco Stadium, Boise, ID

TV channel: ESPN/ESPN3

2010 winner and loser: Northern Illinois def. Fresno Stat, 40-17
