The Utah Utes hold a 10-7 lead over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at halftime of the 2011 Sun Bowl. The Utes took the three-point lead in the final seconds of the half when Coleman Petersen kicked a 25-yard field goal. However, it was dangerously close to not going through the uprights, like the two Georgia Tech's Justin Moore saw come up short and to the sides. Petersen's kick hit the right upright but bounced through the open area for the points.
As expected, Georgia Tech has just six passing yards to its 232 rushing yards. Preston Lyons had a 36 yard touchdown run for the team's only points of the half.
Utah's Jon Hays was just 6-of-12 for 98 yards, but he did have a touchdown pass to Shawn Asiata. Utah punter Sean Sellwood is averaging 57.3 yards on three punts so far.
