In less than three months, Denver-based UFC fighter Brendan Schaub will return to the Octagon to face Ben Rothwell in UFC 145 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on March 24, 2012. The match was verbally agreed to earlier in the week between the two fighters, UFC.com reported.
Schaub last fought in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as part of UFC 134 in August 2011. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira upset him by virtue of a first-round knockout. Schaub fell to 8-2 in his career with the defeat. Schaub played fullback for the Colorado Buffaloes from 2003-2005. He played in the Arena Football League for the Utah Blaze before spending some time with the Buffalo Bills' practice squad. After an NFL career failed to materialize, Schaub committed to mixed martial arts.
His opponent, Ben Rothwell, is 31-8 in his career and most recently lost to Mark Hunt at UFC 135 in Denver, CO.
