On Monday night, the Denver Pioneers will have a chance to do something that the Colorado Buffaloes couldn't do: defeat the Wyoming Cowboys. Wyoming (11-1) beat the Buffaloes on Dec. 9 65-54, and the streaking Cowboys— who have won nine in a row— is arguably be Denver's toughest remaining opponent before they enter conference play.
The Cowboys are led by the guard duo of Luke Martinez and Francisco Cruz, both of whom average just over 12 points, 3 rebounds and an assist per game. Inside, junior forward Leonard Washington leads the Cowboys in rebounds per game with six, and the Pioneers big men will have to work to keep him off the glass.
The Pioneers have a distinct advantage in shooting the ball. Denver shoots better than Wyoming in all three major categories, but the difference is most pronounced from outside, where the Cowboys 32% three point shooting as a team is markedly worse than Denver's 40%.
Game time/date: 6 p.m. MT, Monday, December 19
