Despite a strong offensive effort, Northern Colorado couldn't overcome the skill and athleticism of No. 11 Marquette, as the Bears fell 93-72.
Marquette had five players score in double-figures, with freshman guard Todd Mayo leading the way with 22 points. Mayo started in the place of Darius Johnson-Odom, who was suspended for a violation of team rules. Jae Crowder scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Golden Eagles, while Vander Blue netted 18 points. Junior Cadougan controlled the tempo of the offense, scoring nine points and dishing out nine assists in the win.
Northern Colorado received a huge boost on the offensive end from Tate Unruh, who scored a game-high 25 points on 10/18 shooting. Tim Huskisson was the only other player from Northern Colorado to score in double-figures, as he netted 17 points in 20 minutes of action.
The Bears will begin a three-game homestand when they host Colorado St. on December 22. Marquette will hope to remain undefeated when it visits LSU on December 19.
