The Calgary Flames took a 2-1 lead on a Curtis Glencross power play goal early in the second period, and that proved enough to defeat the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday night. While the Avalanche turned up the pressure and out-shot Calgary 15-7 in the final period, they just weren't able to crack Mikka Kiprusoff, who stopped 32 of 33 Colorado shots on the night.
The Avalanche took the loss despite beating Calgary in a number of statistical categories, but so it goes. Next up for Colorado is a road trip to Detroit on Tuesday, followed by a home game against the New York Islanders on Thursday. The Avs sit in third place in the Northwest Division, a mere three points behind first place Edmonton.
