After the Stars wiped away their 2-0 lead in the second period, the Avalanche staged a resurrection of their to come back and tie the game. The scoring started in the second period after Stars winger Loui Erickson netted his seventh goal of the season with a little over five and a half minutes gone in the period. Dallas then tied the game up a hair over seven minutes later when Sheldon Souray pocketed his fourth goal of the season on a power play after the Avs' Cody McLeod was sent to the box for boarding.
The barrage from Dallas continued less than three minutes later, when Vernon Fiddler scored his third goal of the season with just under five minutes to play in the period. The Stars stretched the lead to 4-2 less than two minutes after that when Alex Goligoski tallied his second goal of the season, again on another power play. But exactly 43 seconds after Goligoski's goal, the Avs' Matt Duchene brought Colorado to within a single goal with his second score of the night. Then, with just less than 2:30 to play in the period, the Avs tied the game on Paul Stastny's third of the season.
If this goal scoring frenzy continues, the third period promises to be a wild one. But if the the Avs can't stay out of the penalty box, they might not like the outcome.
