Thanks to goals from Jay McClement and Matt Duchene, the Colorado Avalanche lead the Dallas Stars 2-0 after the first period on Friday night. For McClement, it was his first goal of the season, and it came off an assist from Kyle Quincy with just over five and a half minutes gone in the period. Duchene's goal, which came with just over 12 minutes gone, was his third of the year, and it came on the power play after Dallas' Radek Dvorak was sent to the box for hooking.
The Avs dominated the period, putting ten more pucks on net than the Stars. The good news continues for the Avs, as they'll enter the second period with a man advantage after Dallas defenseman Stephane Robidas got sent away for roughing with only seven seconds left in the period. The Avs are currently second in the NHL in Power Play%, so they may just start off the second period with a goal.
