The Northern Colorado Bears got 16 points from Connor Osborne on Friday afternoon and defeated the Western Carolina Catamounts, 74-57, in the South Padre Island Invitational. Western Carolina's Brandon Boggs was outstanding in scoring 35 points on 12-23 shooting, but he didn't get enough help from his teammates, who generally had a tough day from the field.
Overall, WCU hit just 20 of 62 (32.3%) shots and seven of 24 (29.2%) three-point attempts. UNC, on the other hand, was considerably more effective at the offensive end and hit 46.6% of their field goal attempts. The Bears were also more efficient at the free throw line and controlled the boards, 40-29.
Tate Unruh and Mike Proctor also scored in the double digits for Northern Colorado; they each finished the game with 10 points.
