College Basketball Rankings: North Carolina Remains No. 1; California Golden Bears Move To No. 18

The Pac-12 and the Mountain West conferences continue to have small impact on the Coaches Top 25 poll.

The North Carolina Tar Heels remain the No. 1 team in the latest Coaches Top 25 poll, but the Kentucky Wildcats at No. 2 received the lone first-place vote that did no go to UNC. The rest of the top seven remained the same before the then-No. 8 Florida lost to No. 3 Ohio State last week. They are now No. 9. The Memphis Tigers moved up to the No. 8 spot.

The Kansas Jayhawks drop to No. 14 after losing to Kentucky while the Pittsburgh Panthers fell to No. 16 after Long Beach State upset them, 86-76. The Cincinnati Bearcats dropped out of the rankings after Presbyterian Blue Hose defeated them, 65-64.

In Pac-12 Top 25 news, the California Goldren Bears moved to No. 18, a four-spot jump, while the Arizona Wildcats dropped seven spot to No. 23. The Wildcats lost to Mississippi State.

The Mountain West is still on the outside looking in. The UNLV Rebels received 23 points and the San Diego St. Aztecs garnered eight votes.
