The 2011 Heisman Trophy Race is wide open with just a couple of weeks left in the season. On Saturday, Baylor Bears quarterback Robert Griffin III put his name forth as a major contender. Griffin has been a known quantity in the Heisman race for most of the season, but Saturday's 45-38 win over the Oklahoma Sooners will surely be the signature victory of his Heisman campaign (and, really, of his college football career).
Griffin completed 21 of 34 passes for 479 yards and four touchdown passes. His touchdown passes went for 13, 34, 69 and 87 yards. The 69-yarder was a tip-drill exercise while the 87 one was the game-winner with eight seconds left in the game.
Boise St. Broncos quarterback Kellen Moore is also trying to stay in the race after his stock dropped with a loss to the TCU Horned Frogs last week. He completed 28 of 40 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns.
