Heisman Trophy Watch 2011: Kellen Moore's Chances Hurt After Loss To TCU

Boise St. Broncos quarterback Kellen Moore will need a hope and a prayer to be in New York for the 2011 Heisman Trophy Presentation on Saturday, Dec. 10. He had good numbers against the TCU Horned Frogs by throwing for 320 yards and two touchdowns on 28-of-38 passing. But he failed to lead the Broncos to a comeback victory over TCU. He had to watch his kicker miss a 39-yard field goal as time expired.

He likely needed to be undefeated to have shot at winning the Heisman. He could still make it to New York as the head of a one-loss team, like last year, but he is likely going to drop on ballots as a result of this game.

Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck didn't have a great game against the Oregon Ducks. He threw for just 256 yards and had two interceptions to go with his three touchdown passes. It's still his award to lose it seems, but don't count out Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden as a late-charger. He threw five touchdown passes and 423 yards against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Weeden could rise on those ballots that are sent in late. He has a game against Iowa State before a season-ender against the Oklahoma Sooners. That could play in his favor should voters keep their ballots to the last minutes.
