Davey O'Brien Award 2011: Semifinalists Include Kellen Moore, Russell Wilson

The 2011 Davey O'Brien Award Semifinalists have been announced and, no, there are no quarterbacks from any of the Colorado schools up for it. But former Colorado Rockies prospect and Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Russell Wilson is one of the 16 finalists. Also joining him is the Mountain West's lone representative, Boise St. Broncos quarterback Kellen Moore.

Moore was a finalist for the 2010 award that went to Cam Newton, who also won the Heisman Trophy and went No. 1 overall in the NFL draft. The Broncos quarterback has led the team to a 7-0 record by throwing for 2,010 yards and 24 touchdowns. Moore, should he be a finalist for the award (and he should be), will also hold the NCAA career wins record. He tied Colt McCoy after beating Air Force and could break it in two weeks when the team plays UNLV (they are on a bye this week).

Russell Wilson has completed 73.2 percent of his passes this season for 1,780 yards and 16 touchdowns. Despite the loss to Michigan State on Saturday, Wilson still has a chance to lead the Badgers to a BCS game.
