2011 BCS Bowl Game Projections: Boise State Vs. LSU In Sugar Bowl

After two weeks' worth of BCS rankings, it is still rather early to predict which teams will play in which bowl games, especially the BCS ones. However, the BCS Guru already predicted that the Boise St. Broncos will play the Oklahoma St. Cowboys in Fiesta Bowl, the third time there for the boys in blue. Sports Illustrated's Stewart Mandel, though, has a different picture if how things will work out.

He has the Broncos heading to the Sugar Bowl and facing the LSU Tigers. That would mean LSU drops its Nov. 5 matchup with the Alabama Crimson Tide, but still makes it as an at-large team. The Broncos would also make it as an at-large bid outside of the top two spots in the BCS rankings. The Broncos would be at disadvantage in a game against the Tigers in New Orleans, which is basically LSU's backyard.

With those two teams in that game, that leaves Alabama and the Oklahoma St. Cowboys in the title game. The Cowboys would need to beat Oklahoma in their Dec. 3 game for that to happen. Stanford wins the Pac-12 and faces Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, but Michigan State also makes it from the Big 10. They would play Oklahoma, the other Big 12 team, in the Fiesta Bowl. And it seems destined to happen, but Clemson and Syracuse in a lackluster Orange Bowl.
