The first set of 2011 BCS rankings has been released and the LSU Tigers the No. 1 team following Week 7 of college football. Alabama, LSU and Oklahoma have each appeared at No. 1 in the various rankings that were released on Sunday afternoon. However, Alabama Crimson Tide took the No. 2 spot and Oklahoma came in at No. 3. Alabama and LSU have a showdown on Nov. 5.
The Boise St. Broncos, as expected, came in at No. 5. They need several dominoes to fall if they hope to move into the top two spots. They'll also need to beat the TCU Horned Frogs in a few weeks. The Houston Cougars came in at No. 19, the second team among non-BCS qualifying schools.
The Oklahoma St. Cowboys are a surprise No. 4 team, but that's because four of the six computer rankings have them as the No. 1 team.
Remember, the BCS rankings are comprised of one-third of the Coaches Poll, one-third of the Harris Interactive Poll and one-third of the six computer rankings.
Here is the initial BCS Top 10:
1. LSU
2. Alabama
3. Oklahoma
4. Oklahoma State
5. Boise State
6. Wisconsin
7. Clemson
8. Stanford
9. Arkansas
10. Oregon
