College Football Rankings Week 8: Harris Poll Retains LSU As No. 1, Boise State At No. 5

The Harris Interactive Poll enters its second week (PDF) and the top nine teams remain unchanged. The LSU Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide take the first two spots, and that will help both of them in their quest to be at the top of Sunday night's BCS rankings. The Boise St. Broncos retained their No. 5 ranking and one first-place vote.

The Michigan Wolverines fell from No. 10 to No. 17. Auburn, Penn State and Washington all entered the Harris Poll top 25 for the first time this season. The Huskies defeated the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday afternoon.

The Harris Interactive Poll comprises one-third of the BCS standings along with the Coaches Poll and the six sets of computer rankings.
