The Mountain West Conference kicked off its Week 7 schedule with a contest between the San Diego St. Aztecs and the Air Force Falcons. After a close first half, the Falcons' had a three-point lead early in the third quarter, only to see it turn into a 41-27 victory for the Aztecs. Running back Ronnie Hillman ran all over the Falcons for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
What do we have to look forward to on Saturday?
UNLV Rebels (1-4, 0-3 away) vs. Wyoming Cowboys (3-2, 2-1 home), 12:00 p.m. MT, The Mtn. The Rebels fell to Nevada, 37-0, one week after losing to FCS Southern Utah. That win against Hawai'i looks like an aberration now. The Cowboys, meanwhile, have dropped back-to-back games to Nebraska (as expected) and Utah State (somewhat expected). This should be an easier matchup for Wyoming.
New Mexico Lobos (0-5, 0-1 MWC) vs. Nevada Wolf Pack (2-3, 1-0 WAC), 2:05 p.m. MT: The Wolf Pack enjoyed a victory over UNLV and shouldn't have any problems against New Mexico. The Lobos need to do more than fire Mike Locksley to set things on a better path.
No. 5 Boise St. Broncos (5-0, 3-0 away) vs. Colorado St. Rams (3-2, 1-0 MWC), 4:00 p.m. MT, The Mtn.: The Broncos make their Mountain West Conference debut with a visit to Fort Collins. The Rams lost a tough game to the San Jose St. Spartans two weeks ago and would like nothing better than to knock down the big boy in the conference. Kellen Moore and the Broncos are going to say no to that.
