Not to be outshined by Todd Helton's desire to play with the Colorado Rockies until he is 40, the Colorado Avalanche announced that Peter Forsberg will skate with the team on Saturday. He wants to see where he is at in order to gauge the possibility of a comeback.
Who knows where this will lead to? It's still premature to say that he can play in the NHL again, but the 37-year-old seems determined to at least give it a try.
Forsberg last played in the NHL during the 2007-2008 season when appeared in nine games for the Colorado Avalanche. All those games came in March, when he scored one goal and tallied 13 assists. He was plus-7. He then went on to score one goal and to assist on four others over seven games. He played for MODO in Sweden for the 2008-2009 and the 2009-2010 season.
Matt Duchene can't wait to be on the same ice as Foppa:
So excited to skate with one of my boyhood idols, Peter Forsberg. One of the most surreal things ever
Stay tuned on Saturday for more.
