After today’s 89-79 victory over Russia, the United States find themselves in unfamiliar territory; undefeated and favorites for the FIBA World Championship, a title they haven’t held since 1994. Shocking, I know.
↵But this so called “B Team” that the US has placed on the court is proving their worth, led by Chauncey Billups.
↵Billups’ numbers in the tournament so far are impressive:
↵22 mpg, 11.6 ppg, 3.3 apg, 47% shooting.
↵He has performed admirably as the starting PG for Team USA and has made several crucial shots, including in the 3rd quarter of today’s game to help give Team USA a comfortable margin of victory. Kevin Durant has received most of the attention, and rightfully so, but Billups may be the most important member of the team right now.
↵Let’s just hope he gets plenty of rest before the start of NBA camp, preferably with a FIBA Gold Medal around his neck.
