The first Saturday of college football is in the books, the Broncos have settled on their 53-man roster and the Colorado Rockies continue to hit on the road (or just at PetCo Park).
The Rocky Mountain Showdown wasn't much of a showdown as the Buffaloes were in control of that game from the opening kickoff. However, one game does not make a season, and both the Buffs and the Rams are ready to learn from this game. The Air Force Academy, meanwhile, took until the second half to show that they were playing an FCS team. Once the team realized that, the offense kicked into high gear.
The Broncos made some roster cuts, taking sizable cap hits in doing so. The NFL season starts later this week, and the Broncos open the season next Sunday against Jacksonville on the road.
The Rockies, strangely enough, have learned to hit on the road, but only at PetCo Park this season. After a 6-2 victory yesterday afternoon, the Rockies look for the sweep today.
