Chivas USA is currently in last place in the West and have just over a zero percent chance at making the playoffs. They'll probably be trying to spoil other teams' playoff shots for the rest of the season, starting with their trip to Colorado in Commerce City today. Colorado is currently battling in a logjam between fourth and sixth place in the West for the last couple of available playoff spots. The first and second spots being held down well by Los Angeles and Salt Lake.
Colorado is coming off their best start of the season, a huge 3-0 victory over Houston featuring star striker Conor Casey regaining his form from last season with two assists and a goal. Chivas' fairly weak defense is ripe for the gashing with Omar Cummings' speed and Casey's re-new-found finishing. This game could just as easily be a trap game as it could a 4-0 blowout over the goats. Colorado have still only lost one game at home this season.
The injury bug has been bitten the Rapids recently, Colorado's best defender on the year, Marvell Wynne, is probably going to miss the game with a hamstring problem that he suffered about halfway through the Rapids previous game against Houston. His possible replacements include Anthony Wallace, Scott Palguta and the man who replaced him last week, Danny Earls. Goalkeeper Matt Pickens might miss it as well with the same back spasms that kept him out of the Dynamo game as well. Ian Joyce will most likely take his spot between the pipes, barring his pregnant wife suddenly going into labor before game time.
Chivas lost the first game between these two teams this season, a 1-0 decision at the Home Depot Center that was the first game of the season for both clubs. Tonight's game will be at 7:00 p.m MT on channel 2 in Denver, as usual!
