Shannon Sharpe Facing Sexual Allegations, Takes Leave From CBS

Former Denver Bronco tight end Shannon Sharpe is currently facing sexual allegations discovered through the filing of a restraining order by Michele Bundy. Sharpe has not formally been charged with any crimes to this point, but because of the nature of the allegations he has taken a temporary leave from his duties with CBS "until this matter is resolved."

From SportsbyBrooks.com:

Following my report on the details of the restraining order petition today, Sharpe released this statement through CBS: "I have decided to step aside from the NFL Today until this matter is resolved."

CBS Sports Senior Vice President of Communications LeslieAnne Wade said on behalf of the network: "We accept Shannon's decision and decline to comment further on a pending legal matter."

Though it's important to keep in mind that Sharpe has not been charged with a crime or been arrested, based on the gravity of the allegations against him, CBS and Sharpe did the right thing in allowing the legal process to run its course.

We won't be speculating on what is or isn't true in this situation here at SB Nation Denver, but we will keep you updated on any developments as they happen.

The charges mentioned above about Sharpe have now been dropped (phew). From the Denver Post:

Michele Bundy, who was granted a temporary restraining order by the court against Sharpe earlier this week and has been representing herself, withdrew her complaint Wednesday.
