The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Peter Mueller to a two year contract worth a total of four million dollars, the team announced today.
The contract, which will pay Mueller $1.5 million this season and $2.5 million next season, has been long expected and should finally place the Avalanche above the salary cap floor for the 2010-2011 season.
Mueller, 22, was obtained via mid season trade from Phoenix, was a major reason the Avalanche were able to make the playoffs this past season. Unfortunately, he was unable to play against the San Jose Sharks in the first round series due to a concussion. An explosive scorer, Mueller tallied 20 points in the 15 games he played with the Avalanche last season.
