Colorado's season is slowly slipping away from them as they continue their sloppy play in their now seven game streak without a win. They need to get some points, starting tonight against the San Jose Earthquakes in Commerce City. San Jose (6-5-5) has a game in hand and only a one point deficit on the slumping Rapids (6-5-6) who have drawn five of their last seven games and haven't won, kept a clean sheet or scored more than one goal in a game since June. Fortunately for the Rapids, San Jose isn't doing very well at present either, with only a single victory in their last eight games, that victory coming against a fairly weak Philadelphia Union team in Philly. Conor Casey is questionable with the head injury he suffered in Seattle still bothering him in practices. If he doesn't play, look for Omar Cummings to start in the striker position of the 4-5-1 if Gary Smith goes with his usual and favorite formation. If not and he goes for a 4-4-2, expect to see Claudio Lopez or Andre Akpan - recently returned from a month-long loan with the Tampa Bay Rowdies - to start in the other striker spot alongside Omar. Since coming back into the league in 2008 after their two year hiatus away from the league, the Quakes have never lost to Colorado. The two teams met earlier this year, with San Jose coming away with the 1-0 victory on an early goal by Chris Wondolowski.
