Rockies Trade For Red Sox Reliever Manny Delcarmen

The Colorado Rockies have acquired Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Manny Delcarmen, along with an undisclosed amount of cash, for Single-A right-hander Chris Balcom-Miller according to ESPN Boston.

Delcarmen was 3-2 with a 4.70 ERA , 32 strikeouts, and 28 walks in 48 relief outings this season. The right-hander has been especially tough on lefty hitters, holding them to a .165 batting average.

Balcom-Miller, 21, pitched for the Rockies’ Single-A Asheville squad this season. He went 6-7 with a 3.31 ERA, 117 strikeouts, and 19 walks in 19 starts. He has been assigned to Single-A Greenville.

Selected by Colorado in the sixth round of the 2009 first-year player draft, Balcom-Miller is 10-7 with a 2.72 ERA and 177 strikeouts compared to 29 walks in 30 career starts in the Rockies’ system.

Delcarmen showed a lot of promise earlier in his Red Sox career.
