Word around the ice rink is that Peter Forsberg is feeling healthy and may want to make another comeback, likely in Europe. But we shouldn’t count out an NHL return…
↵….which makes every Avalanche fan swoon. Memories of his unique combination of speed, strength, and puck handling made Forsberg a once in a generation talent. Then you remember how washed up and tentative he looked for Team Sweden during the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
↵But think about the Avalanche for a second. They are millions of dollars under the salary floor and have to spend money SOMEWHERE before the season starts. Their attendance last year was below acceptable levels and the marketing was absymal.
↵Forsberg can fix all three problems. Sign him to a one-year contract worth a couple million, market Forsberg’s return to Colorado, and watch the Pepsi Center become less empty lively again this season.
Okay, so it’s a bad idea. I know it’s a bad idea. I’m just saying it’s not the worst idea…
