The Colorado Rockies return home after yet another disappointing road trip, only to find themselves matched up against the NL East leading Atlanta Braves. After scoring only six runs in three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Rockies scuffling offense has its work cut out for them as they face the always strong Atlanta pitching staff, led by Cy Young contender Tim Hudson (14-5, 2.15 ERA). Colorado will counter with one of their most consistent pitchers of 2010, tall right hander Jason Hammel (8-7, 4.36 ERA).
The first time these teams met this season was one of the more memorable series of the year. Ubaldo Jimenez threw the first no-hitter for the Colorado franchise on April 17. April 18 was almost as memorable, as a blown call in the bottom of the ninth stole a game ending double play, and eventually the series, away from then-closer Franklin Morales and the Colorado Rockies.
