The Colorado Rockies look to finally break out of their win, loss, win pattern as they take on their rivals the Los Angeles Dodgers in Chavez Ravine.
At the start of the series, Colorado finds themselves five games back of the wild card leading San Francisco Giants and with time running out. They have recalled promising rookie right hander Jhoulys Chacin (5-8, 4.04 ERA) to make the start against the Dodgers' ace Clayton Kershaw (10-7, 3.17 ERA)
Kershaw has defeated the Rockies both meetings this season, including a pitcher's duel that gave Ubaldo Jimenez his first loss of the season, a 1-0 Dodgers' victory.
Both sides are desperate for a series win, as two promising seasons have collapsed after the All-Star Break and the playoffs have drifted farther out of reach..
