Peaks & Valleys - August 15 - Broncos Football Is Back

New, 1 comment

It's only preseason football, but when the Broncos step onto the field tonight in Cincinnati their fans will breathe a sigh of relief. That long wait to finally see the guys play against an opposing team will finally be satiated. No doubt Tim Tebow will be the big story for the national media, but all the other story lines will be of more interest to Broncos fans: Kyle Orton, Robert Ayers, who's at running back, the rookies other than Tebow, etc.

Football will also be a much needed distraction from the Rockies who lost in extra inning last night.

Peak

↵

-Todd Helton hit a home run in the fourth inning. Nowadays this needs to be pointed out because they are so few and far between. It was his first of the season at Coors Field.

↵

Level Ground

↵

-Esmil Rogers pitched a gritty 5 2/3 innings and was charged with four runs (Randy Flores inherited his baserunners and allowed one to score). He struck out five.

↵

Valleys

↵

-Huston Street took the loss after he allowed a leadoff double in the 10th and then saw Casey McGehee hit an RBI single to put the Brewers ahead.

↵

-The Rockies have not won back-to-back games since they swept the Cubs July 30-August 1. Since that August 1st game the Rockies have alternated wins and losses, having a 6-6 record over that time.

↵

On Tap For Today

↵

-The Rockies trot out Ubaldo Jimenez to face the Brewers' Manny Parra. Game time is 1:10 p.m. MT.

↵

-The Denver Broncos take the field at 5:00 p.m. MT in Cincinnati.
