Mets Edge Rockies 1-0

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) – Struggling right-hander Mike Pelfrey tossed seven scoreless innings and Jose Reyes knocked in the only run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the seventh, as the New York Mets beat Ubaldo Jimenez and the Colorado Rockies, 1-0, in the opener of a three-game series at Citi Field.

Pelfrey (11-6) scattered four hits, walked one and struck out four to pick up his first win since June 25. He was 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA over his previous seven outings, allowing 30 earned runs in 30 innings.

Jimenez (17-3) gave up one run on four hits over seven full frames. The major league leader in wins, Jimenez had eight strikeouts and walked four. He remains tied with Kevin Ritz (1996), Pedro Astacio (1999) and Jeff Francis (2007) for the franchise record in single season victories.
