Trade Deadline Passes, Rockies Stand Pat

As expected, the Rockies have decided with the team that brought them here instead of buying selling at the deadline. Whatever you think of Dan O' Dowd, he made the right move here. While division rivals traded top prospects for mediocre relievers (hello, Octavio Dotel!) the Rockies chose to let their health be the biggest upgrade.

Players like Hawpe and De La Rosa getting healthy would make a much larger impact on the roster's overall talent level than trading for an overpriced bat such as Toronto's Jose Bautista or an arm like Ted Lilly.

So while their NL West division rivals trade the future for a miniscule upgrade, the Rockies get stronger for this season and future seasons. This is one trade deadline we should be grateful for silence in Colorado.
